Paying for a memory care facility in Massachusetts typically involves a mix of personal funds, insurance, and government assistance. Here are the most common payment options:
- Private Pay (Savings, Retirement Accounts, Home Sale, or Family Support): Most families use personal savings, retirement income, home sale proceeds, or help from family to pay for memory care.
- Long-Term Care Insurance: Some long-term care insurance policies cover memory care. Review your policy or talk to your insurance provider to confirm what is covered.
- Medicaid (MassHealth and Home and Community-Based Services Waivers): Massachusetts Medicaid, called MassHealth, offers Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) waivers such as the Frail Elder Waiver.
